Statistics and academic performance in students of the Espinar branch professional school of education of the National University of San Antonio Abad of Cusco, 2017

Abstract
The purpose of this research is to determine the effects of the use of conceptual maps as a didactic resource in the academic performance of the statistics subject in the education professional school students of the National University of San Antonio Abad of the Cusco. The design is quasi-experimental, using a questionnaire to measure knowledge before and after the intervention. This research participated 50 students, of which 25 were used conceptual maps and 25 with the traditional expository method. Statistical testing was administered using a Pretest - Post test and control group design, with students enrolled in the academic semesters of 2016-I and 2016-II, forming two groups: one experimental and one control. Using conceptual maps make possible the favorable performance, being that students without the use of conceptual maps at the end of the semester present an average academic performance of 14.84 points with a deviation of 2.70308; In contrast the performance of students in the experimental group with the use of concept maps is 17.24 with a deviation of 2.33238.
